The artists Diemer and Wieland at work in the Kauner valley in 1893. From the
collection of Willi Pechtl.

A painting about the painting: the panoramic brush strokes of Zeno Diemer and Hans Beat Wieland.

Several other artists, including W. Flauscher, A. Niedermair and A. Paetzold, worked on the cyclorama alongside Diemer and Burger. Their help made it possible to finish the painting in just a few months, in time for the grand unveiling at the militia festival on Whitsunday 1896. This division of labor, however, gave rise to lingering doubts about the cyclorama's artistic value.
